Which corrosion inhibitor for high-brine systems?
The ethoxylated quats (EQ C15, EQ T15) and the bis-quats stay soluble and film-forming in saturated brines where a conventional benzyl quat drops out; the imidazoline quats are the choice for oil-wet, CO₂-sweet systems.
Which foamer for liquid unloading?
Lauramidopropyl betaine with lauramidopropyl hydroxysultaine is the strongest amphoteric pairing in high-condensate wells; cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine carries the highest salinity. Sample lots are available for field trials.
Can the unregistered DDAC grades be used as biocides?
No. Biocidal use requires an EPA-registered active: ENVIROQUAT 2D 50e (DDAC), CB 80e (ADBAC), or 2OD 80e (dialkyl blend). The unregistered grades are for corrosion inhibition, emulsification, and formulation.
Which surfactants for caustic rig-wash and tank degreasers?
The hydrotroping grades, decylamine oxide (DAO 30), sodium caprylyl sulfonate (C8S 40), capryl/capramidopropyl betaine (CCAPB 30), and disodium cocoamphodiacetate (DSCADA 38), stay soluble and active in caustic degreasers; the amine oxides and betaine build foam for cling on rig floors and iron.
